I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable about computers, but this year I'm in the market for a new one and the choices out there seem a bit overwhelming. I downloaded this book when Amazon offered it for free and was pleasantly surprised to see that it contained some good, basic information. The author goes into detail about the various types of computer users and what their particular requirements are. I already knew what kind of computer I needed, but what I didn't know about was the differences in the currently available processors and the author provided enough information for me to make a decision. I was also pleased to learn the difference between the old Sata 3Gbit hard drives and the new Sata 6Gbit hard drives. Since I'm in the market for a relatively powerful computer, this information was useful to me.I think the original price of $5 is a bit steep since the book only runs 52 pages (for that length, 99 cents seems a fairer price). I also think it could be improved with some editing, and a bit more information needs to be included about USB (what it does, the different types), DVD writers and other items (such as network cards) to make this book more useful for those who are just learning about what constitutes a basic computer system, but overall I found the book to be informative.
I wish the author much good luck and look forward to seeing updates of this e-book in the future.
